Are you a visionary pastor passionate about spiritual guidance, community impact, and multi-generational ministry? First Mount Zion Baptist Church (FMZBC), a vibrant congregation of 3,700 members, is seeking an experienced Pastor to lead us into the next chapter of our ministry. Located in Dumfries, Virginia, we have been serving the community since 1867, fostering faith, offering hope, spreading love through powerful worship, studying God's word, stewardship, and service. The Pastor position is located in, and will work from Dumfries, Virgina.

Key Responsibilities

Spiritual Leadership

• Prepare and deliver engaging, biblically-based sermons that resonate across generations.
• Lead worship services incorporating modern communication and technology.
• Conduct sacraments, weddings, funerals, and other special services.
• Develop and lead Bible studies and group discussions to encourage spiritual growth.

Pastoral Care

• Provide empathetic pastoral counseling and emotional support to all congregants.
• Be approachable and connect with members of all ages.
• Actively engage in pastoral duties within the community, extending your influence beyond the church walls.

Educational & Ministry Leadership

• Oversee and encourage participation in church ministries for adults, youth, and children.
• Train and empower leaders and volunteers to fulfill the church's mission.

Community Engagement

• Strengthen relationships with local organizations through outreach and collaborative initiatives.
• Lead programs aligned with community needs.

Operational Management

• Oversee church operations and staff management.
• Moderate church meetings and guide the implementation of the church's strategic vision.
• Ensure effective management of church activities and facilities.

Qualifications

• Ordained minister holding a Master's or Doctor of Ministry, Doctor of Theological Studies, or Doctor of Christian Education from an accredited institution.
• At least 7 years of pastoral experience, preferably in a large or mega-church setting or a minimum of 12 years of ministerial experience serving as an assistant pastor or in a similar role or position.
• Strong theological knowledge, impactful preaching, and effective teaching skills.
• Proven ability to engage younger generations and integrate them into the life of the church.
• Demonstrated leadership and management skills, with experience in church operations and strategic planning.
